Shepherds hut Sue, from chaos to calm (or at least calmer!!). I am one of those people who have always loved my career. I was a registered nurse for 20 years working in both
acute hospital and community settings. I then left nursing to become a health lecturer at a large local FE college, I loved it and continued for 16 years. Maybe I loved it too much, it was certainly a very demanding but hugely rewarding job, teaching adults up to year 2 degree level (level 5). My special areas of interest were health promotion and psychology. I also enjoyed teaching anatomy and physiology hence why sometimes my yoga lessons turn into a lesson on anatomy, I just can’t help myself as I have so much enthusiasm for all things health and well being.
In 2018 I was successfully treated for cancer, this made me reassess if I really wanted to continue working in the fast lane. A friend and local Pilates business owner asked me to train and work for her but I decided instead to train as a yoga instructor because I liked the holistic nature of yoga and knew just how much it had personally benefitted me. I gained my level 3 qualification in 2019. Then along came COVID. Working from home delivering both online yoga classes and teaching health courses finally gave me the push I needed to leave teaching and to go it alone, just teaching yoga. It has been a journey and I have learnt so much. The two C’s, Cancer and COVID have taken me to where I am today. I am no longer addicted to
drama and chaos (I was).
I acquired a beautiful second-hand Shepherds Hut in 2024. My shepherd’s hut is a quiet space for me, here I read, write, do yoga, knit, or have a cuppa and look at the countryside surrounding me, usually with my little dog by my side. Through “Shepherds Hut Sue” I will continue with my passion for writing and gaining
and sharing knowledge.

Sophie Francis is a basketmaker and willow artist inspired by the intersection between nature and human creativity.
This includes growing my own willow in Shropshire, and working with sustainably coppiced green wood’s such as ash and hazel in basketry. I make my own straps and lids for foraging baskets from cork bark, which is available in a range of colours.
